With an increasing number of mobile users wanting to stay connected to the internet and get high download speeds for all their applications, whether it is video streaming, social networking or e-mailing, various technologies have come through within the past decade. First it was GPRS, then EDGE and now 3G and Wi-Fi. The big advantage of 3G over Wi-Fi is its mobility and you don’t have to be close to any hotspots or anything else. Also it is only possible to stream high quality music and video on the go over a 3G connection and as such most companies offer large packages when you choose a 3G connection.

Apple iPhone 3G: Undoubtedly the 3G mobile phone with the most well rounded features available in India, the iPhone 3G features full 3G connectivity, 8 or 16GB of inbuilt memory, a completely functional iPod, 2 megapixel camera and a full set of business applications including e-mail syncing. But two major exclusions are Bluetooth and MMS. Not without its faults, but the iPhone is definitely the right 3G mobile phone if u need both multimedia and business capabilities and comes at a price of Rs.24000-Rs.32000.

Nokia N96: The features of this 3G mobile phone include 16GB inbuilt storage, 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, sleek and glossy design and 5.0 megapixel camera with a Carl-Zeiss lens with flash and video-recording. This 3G mobile phone is available for Rs.24000 and is a good bet for those more inclined to multimedia applications.

Samsung Innov8: Definitely one of the most expensive 3G mobile phone, at a price of Rs.45000, the Innov8 is targeted at those who heavily use the camera on their mobile phones. The main feature of this 3G mobile phone is its 8.0 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, dual LED flash, self timer, adjustable ISO and exposure metering. Other features are 16GB of storage, Bluetooth, e-mail sync, GPS, multimedia player, etc. This 3G mobile phone is surely targeted at the photography enthusiasts, but it is a great buy anyway.
