The Blackberry 8300 is another of Research In Motion (RIM)’s consumer oriented Smartphones. Available in 3 different versions based upon GSM or CDMA networks as also GPS or Wi-Fi integration. It was launched in 2007 as a more consumer friendly version of the successful 8800. The Blackberry 8300 is available in India through both Vodafone and Airtel.
The Blackberry 8300 specifications are just 4.2in in length X 2.4in in width and a mere 0.6in in thickness making it light and sleek. The sides have a soft rubbery finish giving a good grip on the phone. The screen can display upto 65000 colours at a resolution of 320X240 pixels with a light sensor to auto-adjust screen brightness based on environmental light. The Blackberry 8300 is easy to use with a host of keys set around the phone’s edges to ease navigating and scrolling. The keys as also the navigator are of perfect size and dimension making the phone a joy to use.
The Blackberry 8300 features include a 2.0 mega pixel camera that has 5X zoom and also features flash capabilities but like the 8100, no video recording. It has quality and size options but picture quality is poor to average at best. The media player will play most major formats but the 64mb integrated memory means you’ll have to invest in a good memory card. Playlist creation, shuffle and repeat functions are included even though the player itself is a little too simplistic. The Blackberry 8300 will easily last you through 4hrs of talk time or 17 days of standby time. Bluetooth is available but integrated Wi-Fi is not except in the 8320 which itself includes no GPS like the 8310 or 8330. Blackberry’s renowned e-mail services are available with support for 10 individual e-mail addresses as is the e-mail attachment viewer capable of opening Word, PowerPoint or Excel attachments but not editing the same. Internet usage is restricted to EDGE (Enhanced GPRS) speeds due to lack of 3G support.
The Blackberry 8300 is available to buy at a price between 23000-28000.The Blackberry 8300 offers classy design and a complete array of features to make it a desirable mobile phone for regular buyers and executives alike.
