Mobile Internet

As of late, the importance of internet features in mobile phones has been rising. This is due to much increased internet usage by consumers, and hence, the need to access the internet through mobile phones. Mobile internet access is required for numerous reasons, for the professional, to access e-mail or to keep himself updated with important news, for  the youth, to access various social networking sites or to download various types of data, be it music, video or images. As such, internet integration into mobile phones is on the rise and an internet capable phone being expensive is a thing of the past.

Various technologies are developed to make mobile internet usage faster and easier. The first of these was GPRS, then EDGE (Enhanced GPRS) and most recently, 3G and Wi-Fi. Of these GPRS is the slowest and most cumbersome, while Wi-Fi is the fastest mobile internet technology but is limited by its requirement to be near a Wi-Fi access point, and the speed capability of the same. 3G is true mobile internet as you can access any and all types of media at high speeds regardless of location. As internet website become larger and more detailed, so their size increases and they add many features such as JAVA integration, RSS feeds, Twitter or Facebook integration and YouTube or other video streaming service integration. To support all these mobile internet browsers are also evolving continuously to support them and today most phones include full-HTML browsers and support for all the above features.

The ease of use and overall accessibility of mobile internet differs considerably from handset to handset and manufacturer to manufacturer, but it is generally true that Smartphones have the best integration of mobile internet and its features. However lately, audiophile-centered phones like iPhone, iPhone 3G, the latest Sony walkman phones or Nokia N-series phones have started including features like live video or music streaming. However viewing web-pages on mobiles can be a head ache as many sites appear distorted due to physical limitations of the phones and the same reason causes problems while typing mails.
