The Motorola A780 is a Linux smart phone which sports features such as a 1.2 mega pixel camera, a Trans Flash memory card slot and even a keypad on the front side of the flip cover. The Motorola A780 was launched in the Indian markets in the year 2004 and is still available for the price of Rs. 9,000 in markets all over India. The Motorola A780 has specifications of 106 x 53 x 24 mm, and the weight of 141 grams, the phone is available in the sole color option of silver.

The Motorola A780 has its key pad on the front side of the flip cover which makes texting messages and dialing numbers an easier process, however using the key pad was a difficult task since the keys were stiff and a lot of force was required to register a key press. On opening the Motorola A780 mobile phone one will find the 240 x 320 touch screen display which displays around 65k colors. The Motorola A780 sports a 1.3 megapixel camera; the picture quality is strictly average, the pictures seem to be over exposed while the camera’s white balance settings don’t function too well. The camera can take pictures at three different resolutions of 1024 x 1280, 480 x 640, and 240 x 320, while the videos can be recorded at the resolution of 128x 96 and 176x 144.

The Motorola A780 runs on a Standard battery, Li-Ion 780 mAh which offers stand by up to 110 hours and talk time up to 6 hours. The Motorola A780 has an internal memory of 48 MB and can store a decent amount of entries in the phone book. The Motorola A780 has a couple of drawbacks such as poor battery life and a stiff key pad while the Bluetooth and the Trans Flash slot are the main attractions of the phone.
