Nokia 6600 was launched in the mobile market in the year 2003 and belonged to Nokia’s 6000 series also called as Classic Business Series. During the time of its release it was one of the most well equipped mobile phone to be designed by Nokia. The Nokia produced 6600 slide and 6600 fold phones only share the same name as the original Nokia 6600 but that is where their similarity ends.
Nokia 6600 has ARM4T architecture and a 7.0s Symbian Operating System. It is equipped with a 104 MHz CPU and a 176×208 TFT display. 6600 comes with a joystick in the middle which can be navigated in 5 directions. It also has support for GPRS and HSCSD for internet access using mobile phones.
Nokia 6600 enables its owner to connect with other devices through Bluetooth and IrDA. It has an internal memory of 6 MB along with a memory card slot which allows the user to increase the memory by inserting an additional memory card. 6600 has support for Java MIDP 2.0 and Symbian application specifically series 60. Nokia also allows synchronization of data present on the phone with the PC through Nokia PC Suite and iSync. GSM E900, 1800 and 1900 are the varying range of networks on which Nokia 6600 is functional.
The most impressive feature about Nokia 6600 is its camera. Nokia 6600 boosts an integrated (VGA 640×480) camera. Even though the Nokia 6600 is equipped with only a VGA camera it provides the consumers with good quality pictures. It also has video and audio recording support. By using the in-built recorder application Nokia 6600 can record up to 95 KB of video within a time of 9 to 27 seconds. It also supports viewing of streaming audio and video.
Along with all these features which are provided by Nokia, 6600 also supports a number of third party software. These include mp3, various multimedia players as well as games, GPS, GUI Themes, web browsers and office suites.
After ruling the Indian as well as world mobile phone market for more than 4 years, Nokia stopped production of Nokia 6600 in the year 2007. Till date it remains one the best phones to have been developed by Nokia. Nokia 6600 had the looks and features to make it stand apart from the rest during its launch in the year 2003 and will always be remembered as one of the biggest success story of Nokia till date.
