Nokia E50 is not a phone, it’s a “business device”. This popular smartphone that’s anything but huge and clunky was announced on May 18, 2006 as an addition to its E-family. Being the sleekest of its family, it works on all the 5 continents and is specially designed for people who want a single phone for both business and leisure use.
This mono block quad-band GSM(850/900/1800/1900 MHz) smart phone is as light as 104 gms with a size of 113 x 43.5 x 15.5 mm and has a 1150 mAh Li-Ion battery that lasts for 240 hours in standby mode, giving a staggering 8 hours of talktime. To add to this is the 262144 colour TFT display with 240×320 pixels. Available in variations like, the elegant E50-1 / RM-170 (with camera), model E50-2 / RM-171 (without camera) and the exquisite metal Black models, it has definitely made a mark for itself.
With great features like being able to view Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel attachments and PDF documents, though editing them isn’t possible. The Nokia E50 also features like e-mail support for Nokia’s Intellisync Wireless Email, BlackBerry Connect, Visto Mobile, Activesync Mail for Exchange, and Altexia. The Data transfer application enables Device to device synchronization along with functionality like 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0, digital music player, EDGE for fast downloads and a MicroSD memory-card slot. The Nokia E50 that works on the Symbian Operating system which is not binary compatible, does not support UMTS, Wi-Fi or FM radio.

Nokia E50 is not meant for camera centric audiences due the minimal attention paid to the feature although it has good set of business functions along with Bluetooth, USB and Infrared. Ample Memory is provided, 70 Mbytes built-in and support for hot-swappable memory cards.
Though it lacked the basics like repetition alarm and stopwatch, its attractive, sleek look combined with the smart functions and its low price, Nokia E50 is surely one of the popular gadgets in the Indian market.
