The Nokia N81 is a Symbian 9.2 powered smart phone; there are two versions of the Nokia N81 one with a massive storage of 8GB and the other with an internal memory of 120MB. The Nokia N81 was launched in the October of the year 2007 for the price of Rs. 15,000 in the Indian markets. The Nokia N81 has dimensions 102 x 50 x 17.9 mm which is almost similar to the Nokia 5700 Xpress Music, but the weight of 140g makes it a good 25 grams heavier to the latter. The phone has a solid build and the slider’s construction seems to be smooth. The Nokia N81 is available in the sole color option of cocoa brown.
The Nokia N81’s 2.4 inch screen which displays 16M colors is worth a mention. The Nokia N81 has an internal memory of 8GB and no slots for additional cards. The memory onboard being massive can store unlimited number of entries in the phone book and 20 received missed and dialed calls. The messages and data transfers are stored for a maximum of 30 days; the storage period can be shortened.
The Nokia N81 is powered by a Standard battery, Li-Po 1050 mAh (BT-6MT), which offers up to 410 hours of stand by and talk time up to 4 hours. The Nokia N81 has a basic 2 mega pixel camera; the image quality is average while color blotches are visible in the shadow areas. The photos takes by the camera can be shared either via the USB cable, blue tooth or the Wi-Fi. The Nokia N81 has various additional features such as an MP3 player, a push to talk button and voice dial. In spite of being a very nice phone which also has a large fan following the Nokia N81 has certain drawbacks. The phone has the weight of 140g which is much heavier than the other phones available with the same dimensions. The key pad is not very user friendly and the camera is mediocre.
