When we hear SONY ERICSSON mobile phones, one of the prime features that comes to our mind is WALKMAN phones. But Sony Ericsson K610 is a bit different. In their effort to carter to people with different tastes, Sony Ericsson K610 may be considered for the ladies. With the compact size and with all the basic features, one can argue that it is made for the fairer sex.
Sony Ericsson K610 works on 2G network on GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 and on 3G network on UMTS 2100. K610 was announced in February 2006. Sony Ericsson K610 specifications are 102 x 45.2 x 16.9 mm. K610 weighs just 89 grams. This makes it one of the thinnest and lightest mobile phones available in market.
Sony Ericsson K610 display is TFT, 256K colors. The display resolution is 176 x 220 pixels. K610 screen dimensions are 1.9 inches, 30 x 37 mm. This is as good as any other display available in market.
Sony Ericsson K610 has an internal memory of 16 MB. However it can be extended up to 2 GB using a Memory Stick Micro (M2). Thus one can store loads of music and snap shorts and share with friends.
Sony Ericsson K610 features include SMS, EMS, MMS, Email and Instant Messaging. Apart from this one can browse the net using WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML (NetFront). As mentioned earlier a SONY ERICSSON mobile phone cannot go without songs. So a MP3/AAC/MPEG4 player comes by default. K610 also has video telephony feature.
Sony Ericsson K610 applications include GPRS of class 10 that gives a standard speed of 32-48 kbps. It also has 3G with a speed of 236.8 kbps. Connectivity wise too Sony Ericsson K610 is not far behind. It is loaded with Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP. It also comes with a mini USB, v2.0 for PC syncing for contacts for transferring snaps and music files. Sony Ericsson K610 is loaded with a 2 MP camera with a resolution of 1600×1200 pixels. But it does not have a flash. So night photography is not possible.
Sony Ericsson K610 comes in Evening Red, Urban Silver, and Misty White colors. K610 has a Standard battery, Li-Po 900 mAh (BST-37). This gives it a stand by time up to 400 hours (2G) and up to 350 hours (3G). The talk time is up to 7 hours (2G) and up to 2 hours 30 minutes (3G). Thus the battery life is great.
Sony Ericsson K610 is priced at Rs. 11000. Thus it is bit expensive for the features that it provides. But at the same time it is slim and light. So weigh the pros and cons before buying the phone.
