Sony Ericsson is undoubtedly the leader in Walkman phones with clamshell opening handsets. And to continue its superiority it has launched W380i. Announced in 2007, November, W380i works on 2G network on GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900. Sony Ericsson W380i specifications are 92 x 49 x 16 mm. W380i weighs just 100 grams. This does not make it one of the thinnest and lightest among Sony Ericsson mobile phones available in market but it surely is stylish.
Sony Ericsson W380i display is TFT, 256K colors. The display resolution is 176 x 220 pixels. W380i screen dimensions are 1.9 inches, 30 x 37 mm. in addition there is a Second external OLED mono display of 128 x 36 pixels. This is as good as any other display available in market.
Sony Ericsson W380i has an internal memory of 14 MB. However it can be extended up to 4 GB using a Memory Stick Micro (M2). And to add to that a 512MB M2 card is included in the retail package. Thus one can store loads of music and snap shorts and share with friends.
Sony Ericsson W380i features include SMS, EMS, MMS, Email and Instant Messaging. Apart from this one can browse the net using WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML (NetFront). As mentioned earlier a SONY ERICSSON mobile phone cannot go without songs. So a MP3/AAC/MPEG4 player comes by default. The TrackID™ feature is also included in the phone. This allows the user to record a few seconds of a song & the name of the song, the artist & the album will be provided by TrackID™ within seconds.
Sony Ericsson W380i applications include GPRS of class 10 that gives a standard speed of 32-48 kbps. It also has EDGE with a speed of 236.8 kbps. Connectivity wise too Sony Ericsson W380I is not far behind. It is loaded with Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP. It also comes with a mini USB, v2.0 for PC syncing for contacts for transferring snaps and music files. Sony Ericsson W380i is loaded with a 1.3 MP camera with a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels. It comes with a 4x zoom facility. But it does not have a flash. So night photography is not possible.
Sony Ericsson W380i comes in Electric Purple, Magnetic Grey, Black Champagne and Black Orange colors. W380I has a Standard battery, Li-Po 930 mAh (BST-39). This gives it a stand by time up to 300 hours. The talk time is up to 7 hours. Thus the battery life is great and sufficient for a frequent traveler.
Sony Ericsson W380i is priced at Rs. 7800. W380i is basically a phone for music lovers. With ease and comfort by which one can control the music, it is surely very user friendly. The price too is very modest for a Walkman phone. Worth a buy.
