The W850i is a triband GSM, UMTS 2100MHz device that sports the innovative v2.0 Walkman music application. This new Walkman application improves on the consumer interface and integrates online music purchases straight into the application, forgoing the requirement for the web browser.

Of course a Walkman phone needs a superior deal of storage space to be really useful, and the W850i comes with a 1GB Memory Stick Duo Pro card in its slot and it also supports cards of up to 4GB capacity. The new Walkman 2.0 experience is extra improved by the 2″ QVGA display (240×320) that can show 262k colors, and the W850i supports the MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and also M4A music file formats for playback. The W850i supports the Gracenote Mobile MusicID system for receiving the title and artist name of songs heard close by. Short clips of the song that are recorded by the consumer are uploaded to Gracenote for recognition, and the consequential information is speedily sent back to the W850i. This unique application is fond in rare handsets.  Support for Bluetooth 2.0 and the A2DP stereo headphones profile adds to the usability of the music face of the W850i, and the control keys that flash in synch while the music is playing add to the amusing factor.

Sony Ericsson W850i is a nice compact size; measuring up at 98 x 47 x 21mm and weighing in at 116 grams. Additional features of note on the Sony Ericsson W850i include a landscape web browsing mode, an RSS news feed reader, and support for push email. A 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities and a LED support light take care of the W850′s imaging requirements. The W850i in addition supports video calls when linked to a 3G network.

The Sony Ericsson W850i is undoubtedly a phone which is much loved by the youth owing to its camera and music capabilities.
